Lake Oconee: A Warm and Welcoming Reynolds Home

Updated: Aug 27

We had the pleasure of collaborating once again with custom builder Frank Herdzina of H & H Quality Homes and interior designer Rachael Bell on a stunning new build in the Reynolds neighborhood at Lake Oconee. This community has quickly become one of Georgia’s most sought-after destinations—between the serene lake views, championship golf courses, and relaxed yet refined lifestyle, it’s easy to see why.

Every detail of this home was chosen with care, and the cabinetry plays a big role in tying together the elevated lake house vibe. Throughout the project, we worked closely with Frank, Rachael, and the homeowners to create cabinetry that was both highly functional and beautifully tailored to the interiors. Having completed about six projects with Frank and now beginning our fourth with Rachael, there’s an ease to our collaboration that makes the design process flow seamlessly.

The Kitchen

The heart of this home is the large open kitchen, anchored by inset Arctic White cabinetry along the perimeter and in the scullery, paired with a bold contrast: deep Iron Ore on the island. A set of stained oak floating shelves adds warmth and texture while framing the lake view just beyond the window wall.

The sink wall is both beautiful and hardworking: a 39-inch ceramic apron front sink, integrated paneled dishwasher, double trash pullout, cutlery inserts, and a clever pullout under the sink for storage.

Just to the side, the coffee nook is tucked into the refrigerator wall, complete with a charging station hidden in the top drawer. A custom-paneled refrigerator and a 48-inch range with a microwave drawer in the island complete the space.

The adjoining scullery offers even more: a secondary oven, plenty of storage for food and baking essentials, and generous countertop space. It’s a true workhorse behind the scenes, keeping the main kitchen clear for entertaining and everyday life.

Living Room & Bar

Moving into the living room, the vaulted 12-foot ceilings with stained beams draw your eye upward, while a wall of windows keeps the focus on the lake. Built-in cabinets in Arctic White also line the living area, creating space to showcase the homeowners’ art, books, and collected pieces. Just off this open living and dining space sits one of our favorite features: the bar.

We designed it with stained rift white oak cabinetry, a beverage fridge, an ice maker, and glass-front uppers—perfectly paired with a rich green tile backsplash. It’s both stylish and functional, a gathering spot that reflects the home’s warm, welcoming energy.

Laundry & Mudroom

Down the hall, the laundry room features cabinetry painted in Unusual Gray, accented by patterned wallpaper that makes the space feel fresh and calming. There’s thoughtful storage throughout: niches for baskets, cabinetry for linens, a working sink, and counters designed with folding in mind.

The nearby mudroom continues the lake house practicality with rift white oak lockers for coats and shoes, plus a framed-out bench that balances utility and style.

Primary Suite

The primary bedroom is a showstopper, with windows framing views of the lake. Dove Studio didn't design the primary bedroom, that was tastefully done by Rachael Bell, but we wanted to include some shots to set the scene for the morning bar and primary bath. Just off the bedroom, a morning bar with stained rift white oak cabinetry offers a convenient spot for coffee or a nightcap.

In the primary bathroom, we designed separate his-and-hers vanities, also in rift white oak, paired with brass fixtures and clean-lined mirrors. The space feels both sophisticated and serene, with a large soaking tub and a generous walk-in shower completing the retreat-like experience. We designed a closet cabinetry in the same finish as the vanities, but unfortunately did not get a good shot of those, so see an install pic in the last paragraph).

Office

The office is another standout, designed for both function and warmth. A wall of stained rift white oak built-ins provides open shelving for books, family photos, and collected treasures, while the closed base cabinets keep the space tidy with plenty of concealed storage. A large window brings in natural light, and the custom built-out desk area makes this room as practical as it is inviting—a calm spot for working, reading, or simply enjoying the view.

Secondary Baths

Throughout the secondary baths, we kept cabinetry neutral and understated, allowing bold tile, curated hardware, and artwork to shine. The vanities ground the rooms while giving the designer’s selections space to pop.

Bonus Room

Upstairs, the bonus room is a cozy getaway designed for both adults and kids. Our custom built-ins line the back wall, offering display space for décor and a perfect spot for the oversized TV. With plenty of seating and a view of the backyard and lake, it’s an inviting hangout for weekends and holidays alike.

Install & Site Visits!

Working on this home in Reynolds was truly special. From the kitchen and bar built for entertaining to the calm, practical laundry and mudroom, every cabinet was designed with intention. And set against the backdrop of Lake Oconee, the result is a home that feels both elevated and effortless.

We’re grateful to have been part of this project with Frank and Rachael, and we’re already excited for what’s next with this talented team. Check out more photos of the project here.
