St. Simons: Coastal Kitchen Getaway

Tucked inside the charming Village Oaks community on St. Simons Island, this home captures the breezy sophistication of coastal Georgia living. For this project, Dove Studio partnered with interior designer Lisa Parke to create a kitchen that is both timeless and full of personality. The end result blends classic farmhouse details with fresh, coastal-inspired touches that feel right at home just steps from the shore.

Visiting St. Simons for this installation was a highlight for our team. There is something special about bringing cabinetry into a home that reflects its surroundings, and this island’s character provided the perfect inspiration. After the cabinetry was complete, we even took a little time to explore the local shops and enjoy the beauty of the area—a reminder of why we love working on projects across Georgia.

A Modern Take on Farmhouse Style

Exposed brick, a pastel palette, and layers of texture set the stage for a space that feels grounded yet elevated. Lisa envisioned a design with coastal energy while keeping functionality at the forefront. Together, we developed a plan that married her vision with our cabinetry expertise, resulting in a kitchen that is as practical as it is beautiful.

The custom cabinetry features inset doors with a crisscrossed mullion detail we call “double ellipticals.” This pattern repeats throughout the kitchen—on the range hood, glass-front uppers, and even in other areas of the home—creating a subtle rhythm that ties everything together. The balance of soft white finishes with weathered blue accents adds depth and warmth, while the exposed brick arch frames the kitchen like a piece of art.

Function That Works as Beautifully as It Looks

At Dove Studio, we know that cabinetry is more than just storage—it is the framework that makes a kitchen work. In this home, thoughtful features include a custom-paneled refrigerator, a pantry designed with pull-out shelving for easy access, and drawer inserts that maximize organization. The island doubles as a central hub with seating, storage, and even a built-in microwave drawer, proving that function never has to sacrifice style.

Details That Tell the Story

The design is finished with delicate, well-chosen details. Glass pendants above the island cast a soft glow while echoing the sea-inspired tones of the cabinetry. Subtle distressing and layered paint techniques on the Colonial Blue cabinets give them a collected, lived-in quality that complements the farmhouse charm. Chrome fixtures and hardware add polish, striking just the right balance between casual and refined.

Mudroom & Laundry Room

Just off the main living areas, the mudroom continues the coastal theme with cabinetry finished in the same soft, weathered blue as the kitchen accents. The distressed paint technique adds a relaxed, timeworn character that feels right at home by the beach. Built-in storage, cubbies, and drawers keep the space highly functional while maintaining its charm.

Nearby, the laundry room takes a lighter approach with white painted inset cabinetry paired with a delicate light blue scalloped tile backsplash. The combination creates a fresh, airy feel that makes even everyday chores feel a little brighter. Together, these hardworking spaces tie seamlessly into the overall design story while offering plenty of style and function.

Collaboration at Its Best

Working with Lisa Parke on this project was a true collaboration. Her ability to capture a client’s lifestyle and translate it into interiors that feel effortless is inspiring, and our cabinetry served as the foundation to bring those ideas to life.
